LLM
Part 2 manuscript
An abbreviation for "large language model," proving technologists are not the most creative namers.
LLMs like GPT-3 grab headlines for their ability to generate human-like text. Yet they lack common sense and often spout nonsense or hate speech. Their talents impress at first, but prolonging a conversation exposes their limitations.
Still, their flaws reflect our own. LLMs inherit the biases and absurdities of their training data - that is, our writings. They amplify humanity's brilliance and banality.
In time, LLMs may revolutionize fields from medicine to marketing. For now, view them as idiot savants. They excel at parlour tricks while failing at deeper thought.
Approach LLMs with fascination but caution, lest you become the fool. And pay no mind to futurists who claim LLMs will enslave us. As always, the biggest threat remains our fellow humans.
